The Silver Dawn traces its origins to the Kingdom of France during the great missionary expansion of the Age of Dawn. As trade routes widened and exploration carried the Church beyond its earliest kingdoms, bishops recognized that ordinary parish clergy lacked the specialized training required for distant missions.
The Order of the Golden Lance exists to ensure that justice serves the Light.
Among the Six Holy Orders, the Golden Lance serves as the Church’s judicial and diplomatic authority. Its members preside over ecclesiastical courts, mediate disputes between kingdoms, investigate corruption within the Church, protect pilgrims upon dangerous roads, and advise rulers on matters of law and conscience.
The Order of the Scarlet Dawn exists to defend civilization. Among the Six Holy Orders, it serves as the military arm of the Church of Lathander. Its members command fortress monasteries, defend pilgrimage roads, train holy knights, advise kings during war, and stand between civilization and those forces that would destroy it.
Reform faction inside Silver Dawn — NOT heretics. Motto: “We remember the warmth that came before the flame.” Emblem: ember in open palms. Two branches: Inner Circle (retired scholars) + Fieldwardens (active templars sabotaging cruelty).
The Dawnbound Conclave exists to preserve, expand, and illuminate knowledge.
Among the Six Holy Orders, it serves as the scholarly heart of the Church. Its members oversee universities, cathedral schools, archives, libraries, observatories, hospitals, scriptoria, and laboratories throughout the known world. They educate clergy and nobles alike while preserving the accumulated wisdom of countless civilizations.
