The Silver Dawn Order
The Silver Dawn Order
One of the five clerical Orders of Lathander in A’Erth. Home site: Mont-Vitral, France. The order’s territory of concern spans the western marches, the UK, and Continental Europe. Custodians of the Codex Luminis (Silver Dawn charter, 6 Illuminations). Central to the Crimson Twilight arc via the 3411 Shrine of Mother Night expedition, the Ashwain signing custody, and the Dawn Bound Purifier sub-branch that produced Elder Yordan Krăstev.
Standing in A’Erth
Silver Dawn is the specialist-and-missionary Order — half scholar-priesthood, half field mission. Where the Radiant Sun preaches from cathedrals and the Golden Lance rides in cavalry columns, the Silver Dawn goes to the crypts, the border parishes, and the wounds between planes. Its sub-orders reflect that split: some contemplative and scholarly, some blade-and-shield, some sent alone into dark work with no witnesses.
Sub-orders (per class-options.md organizational chart)
Templar Silver Blades. Silver Dawn’s fighting arm. Paladins and cleric-knights.
Lumen Envoys. Diplomatic corps. Represent Silver Dawn to secular courts and to peer Orders.
Dawnwardens. Border custody — Silver Dawn’s parish and shrine wardens.
Dawnbound Conclave. Sanctioned wizards restricted to Abjuration, Divination, and Evocation. Ritual scholars. Miren Halloway would have been trained through the Conclave’s Bulghar chapter before her ritual mason career.
Dawn Bound Purifiers. 🩸 Specialist ranger conclave — Gloom Stalkers. Vampire-hunters and shadow-cleansers. See separate Lore record. Elder Yordan Krăstev is the Purifier at Khazan.
Lantern Brethren. Lay auxiliary. Uninitiated pilgrims, healers, aid workers who follow Silver Dawn discipline without vows.
Silver Dawn in the Crimson Twilight arc
The 3411 expedition to the Shrine of Mother Night. A Silver Dawn expedition end-to-end, staffed across sub-orders — Yordan Krăstev leading as Purifier specialist, Vashti Merenne as missionary second, Silver Dawn ritual masons (including a young Vasilika Vasca of Ironhold) providing the technical corps. Twelve went in. Six returned. This is the mission that placed the Dormant Quiet Word Chaplet at Mother Night’s shrine, buried the Tenebra anchor at the Ashwain Field’s third circle in 3413, and lost Vashti to Tenebra.
The Ashwain custody. Silver Dawn maintains the founding-day office at the Ashwain Field twice yearly (vernal + autumnal turns). Current Cantor: Sister Ilma. Ch 15 Scene 1 concelebrant for the Rite of Willed Release.
The Concord relics. The Sunsword, the Chaplet, and (via Ironhold’s Vasca-line commission) the cold-iron ritual spikes all trace to Silver Dawn ritual mason work. The Rite of Completed Witness itself uses Silver Dawn liturgical Latin.
Silver Dawn today
The Order has been institutionally strained since the Dawnspire cataclysm (3459) and the rise of the corrupted Scarlet Dawn Church that now shelters the Ember Court. Halvek’s Cathedral faction at First Light works closely with Silver Dawn representatives (Sister Ilma, Yordan by correspondence) even where the two Orders’ operational styles differ. Silver Dawn’s Bulghar chapter is small but active — Cardinal Ilarion Petrescu was Silver Dawn until his death in 3459, which is why the Ember Court’s forgery of his seal at Vörösvár is a Silver Dawn political case as well as a Cathedral one.
