Vampire Spawn

Vampire Spawn

Dawnspire teaches that vampire spawn are undead created and bound by a true vampire, retaining much of their former intelligence while becoming predatory servants of their maker. They can speak, reason, stalk prey, and exploit familiarity or trust. A spawn should therefore never be mistaken for a mindless corpse simply because it serves another.

Vampire spawn possess unnatural strength and speed, can climb walls and ceilings, and commonly seize a victim before feeding. Their bite drains vitality as well as blood, reducing a victim’s ability to recover while restoring the spawn itself. Dawnspire instructors emphasize breaking grapples quickly and protecting anyone already weakened.

Their traditional weaknesses are well known: sunlight, running water, a stake driven through the heart while helpless, and the inability to enter a residence without an occupant’s invitation. Dawnspire training stresses that knowing these weaknesses is not the same as being able to exploit them in combat. A vampire spawn remains a dangerous, intelligent opponent even when its nature is known.

Dawnspire Maxim: “The corpse remembers your name. Do not mistake recognition for the return of the person you knew.”
